Aura Camacho-Maas was born in Colombia
"Art, one of the most profound ways of communication with the self and others, first manifested in my life as I was facing the challenge of adapting to a new culture with new language. I strongly felt the need to produce something of my own, and I needed to communicate with something tangible. So I started to paint. That was the first phase of my painting endeavors. The technique I applied then was Batik.
Following that, I engaged the creative self in an long-term education project which became my main way of communication with the world. Today I find myself combining both interests as they continue to nourish my soul. In the second phase of my painting, I am working with mixed media such as acrylic and oil.
