Hello! My name is Aaron Vick and I was born and raised in Wake County, North Carolina. As a young child I was continually drawing, painting, building with blocks, and sculpting with clay. As an older child and teenager I studied art and acted, continuing to paint all the while. Despite my early interest and early start in art I became involved in the construction industry for over thirty-five years. During this time I did little or no painting, Although my family and construction took precedence over art for much of my adult life, art remains my passion. I am returning to my true calling, akin to coming home after a long journey.
Why I paint subjects from Latin America:
My life experience includes travels in the United States, Caribbean, Middle-east, Persian Gulf, Europe, Mexico, and South America. Of all the places I have been Latin America, its culture, and its people are nearest and dearest to my heart, inspiring me to share the beauty thereof. Much of my inspiration comes from my beautiful wife of forty-two years, Julia Polloni Vick, and my two fine sons. Julia was born in Santiago, Chile; hence my love for Latin America. For this reason I have traveled extensively throughout Latin America, especially Chile.
Formal education includes:
- Master of Science in Management degree (MSM), North Carolina State University with both Operations and Finance concentrations.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Construction Option, North Carolina State University.
- Associate in Arts Degree, Louisburg College.
Fluency in the Spanish language is a skill I have, also. Currently, I am consulting on construction work/claims, teaching nights, painting and studying art, of course!
